Stalker is a hostile Enemy in Horizon Zero Dawn that the players can confront to obtain Experience and Loot.  It can also be found in normal, corrupted and daemonic variations.

Stalker Description

  • Stalkers are the only machines in Horizon Zero Dawn with Stealth capabilities. Unlike other machines that rely on pure power to overwhelm their targets, the Stalker uses ambushes mechanics to target its prey.
  • Ambusher with light-bending stealth abilities, explosive mines and a powerful ranged attack
  • Stalkers design is similar to real like big cats like leopards or cheetahs.

Stalker Combat Information

  • Behavior Info: They usually position themselves cloaked with heads downward on vertical surfaces such as trees and cliff sides, in absolute stillness. Alternatively, Stalkers also wander uncloaked, partially obscured by the jungle’s undergrowth. In either case, they frequently set alarms on the ground that loudly sound off and release flares in response to movement within a certain radius. These alarms are not triggered by anything smaller than a human, or by other machines. Upon the triggering of an alarm, they immediately cloak and converge on the alarm’s location to investigate.
  • Weakness: shock-iconShock
  • Resistance: None

Stalker Attacks

  • Mine Launch: Drops proximity mines. Each mine deals 100 damage.
  • Claw Fury: Multiple claw slashes, dealing 300 damage.
  • Claw Swipe: Single claw slash. It deals 175 damage.
  • Jumping Mandible Stab: Jumping swipe with jaw. It deals 170 damage.
  • Mandible Stab: Swipe with jaw after pouncing. It deals 140 damage.
  • Tail Swipe: 360-degree bludgeon-like attack with its tail. It deals 275 damage.
  • Dart Gun Shot: Shoots up to 3 shots at the enemy with the dart gun. Each projectile deals 120 damage.

 Stalker Location

  • Stalkers can be found on their own or in small packs. Built specifically for ambush attacks, the majority of them are deployed in The Jewel, where the dense foliage limits their visibility to humans.
  • The daemonic variation of the Stalkers are located in the Banuk Region known as The Cut, which is exclusive to the DLC The Frozen Wilds, and is not available in the base version of Horizon Zero Dawn.

    • I only came across one so far. It can go stealth so look for the distortion. Very fast, very dangerous. I used explosive trip caster and Tear blast arrows until the stealth is gone. Then I used explosive sling shots. Found Melee to be a bad idea, this thing hits fast and hard.
